Salary: $90,000 – $100,000 base salary + commission
Location: In-office at our corporate office in the Nashville, TN area.

Position Summary:
As a Sales Engineer, you will play a critical role in bridging the gap between our technical team and sales strategy. This position involves assessing customer network and internet system requirements to design efficient LAN/WAN networks and internet systems tailored to meet specific customer needs. You will provide valuable insights to the sales team, support proposals, and serve as a technical resource, ensuring that sales teams are equipped with the necessary knowledge to address customer inquiries and promote solutions. The ideal candidate will have both technical acumen and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop an understanding of Iris Networks’ offerings, including DIA, DWDM, Layer 1 and 2 services, DDoS, VoIP, XGS PON, and other Ethernet and wave-based services.
- Create KMZ files and VIZIO diagrams to support Sales and Service Delivery teams.
- Manage opportunities using Salesforce, ensuring smooth transitions through the sales funnel.
- Evaluate customer sites to identify new solution opportunities.
- Develop technical scopes of work, provide cost estimates, and collaborate with planning and network implementation teams for installation.
- Ensure service attributes and process requirements are met for order submission.
- Assemble service and order details to support service modifications.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure timely delivery of services.
- Maintain accurate service records, solutions documentation, and operating playbooks.
- Educate internal and external customers on Iris Networks’ services, processes, and customer-facing portals.
- Continuously contribute to customer experience improvement initiatives.
- Create and document processes to drive efficiency and success.
- Foster an exceptional work culture and prioritize team collaboration.
- Provide the highest level of customer service and actively participate in the execution of the company’s strategic plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or a related field preferred. Industry certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Cisco CCNA, Microsoft MTA) or equivalent technical training/experience are preferred. 2-5 years of experience in a similar technology sales role.
- Skills: Proficient in project management tools, network design, and CRM systems. Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to apply logical thinking to solve complex problems and communicate effectively.
- Physical & Mental Demands: Occasional standing, walking, sitting for extended periods, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Must be able to perform under pressure, meet deadlines, and work independently as well as part of a team.
Work Environment:
- Office and fiber-based telecommunications environment.
- Limited overnight travel (up to 60%) by land and/or air.
